Lori is all about being creative. She was painting by the age of nine, studying under artists including Glynda Turley, Tom Schmerler & Ernest A. Kilman. She honed her artistic talent for graphic design and fine art at the Art Institute of Dallas and the Memphis College of Art. She is best known for her collection of impasto, impressionistic poppy paintings that incorporate unique color schemes and textures.
An Arkansas native, Lori spent her formative years at the lake in Heber Springs where she enjoyed the outdoor pleasures that now find their way onto her canvasses. Her versatile artistic talents are expressed through her array of works featuring a variety of subject matter and painting techniques. Lori’s paintings are best known for their depth and the bright, vivid colors and thick textured paint that give them life. She is also well known for her subdued paintings that represent images of life and bring a calmness and peace to all who enjoy them.
Lori has a 20+ year career in creative services in advertising where she held director positions at two of the largest advertising agencies in Arkansas.
“I was lucky enough to work with Lori during her career in advertising, not realizing for years that she was such an amazing artist,” Amy Meins of North Little Rock, said. “I fell in love with an impressionistic-like oil painting of a bare branch on a blue sky just beginning to show its colors and a birds nest nestled inside. Every day I look at that painting and am reminded that no matter what happens, spring always comes, right on time. That painting gives me hope and I am happy for a few moments every day when I look at it.”
Lori has been honored with numerous art awards beginning with a Congressional Arts Competition & the Barrett and Cissi Hamilton Young Artist Competition. She continues to donate her services by painting live and providing art at auctions for organizations such as Arkansas Children’s Hospital, Humane Society, The Arkansas Reparatory Theatre, Arkansas Food Bank, 20th Century Club, Holy Souls, Catholic High School for Boys, Christ the King and many more. She has displayed in the Governor’s Mansion and has appeared on KATV 7 Good Morning Arkansas and KTHV 11 This Morning.
“I so appreciate my collectors, they tell me my works bring peace and happiness into their homes— that’s a rewarding profession,” Lori concluded.
